I know that many of you are involved in organized or personal efforts to help our neighbors from Louisiana. In order for them to receive federal dollars, their first step is registration with FEMA.

We all need to help spread the word that registration does not need to be done in person. Registering in person will lead to long waits in line, and, I have been assured by FEMA, will not speed up processing of anyone's application.

Instead, FEMA recommends that applicants register on-line. I have posted a direct link to their registration page on my home page at www.scotthochberg.com . I have also found and posted a helpful guide to the FEMA process, in English and Spanish.

The FEMA site also lists a phone number for registration by phone, 1-800-621-FEMA, but it is VERY difficult to get through on that number.
