  • Many Primary Election Polls Not Usual Locations

Just a reminder that the polling places for Tuesday's primary elections are not necessarily those where you are accostomed to voting.

Harris County voters can use my web site to find their polling place in either the Democratic or Republican primary by simply entering their zip code and address. Go to scotthochberg.com and click on "Find Where You Vote".

Polling locations for the primaries are selected by the parties, and require space not just for voting, but for each party's precinct meeting when the polls close. Some locations are fine as polling places but do not have appropriate space for two separate precinct meetings. So in many precincts, the two parties use completely different polling locations.

Also, because turnout varies by party, many Republican polls will be consolidated to a single location in areas of low Republican turnout, and similarly Democratic polls will be consolidated in areas of low Democratic turnout.

As always, let me know if you have questions or any problems with the polling place locator on my web site.
