  • Volunteer Walks for the Census Mar. 13 and 14

We all know the consequences of an undercount in the census. Here's an opportunity to make a difference.

On Saturday, March 13, Council Member Oliver Pennington will lead a group of volunteers to deliver flyers and door hangers encouraging residents to fill out and return the census form. He has identified an area near Richmond and Dunvale as an area likely to be undercounted, so that's where his group will be walking.

Mr. Pennington welcomes your help. The group will meet at 8:30 a.m. at parking lot of Walter Rasmus Park, 3721 Jeanetta (between Richmond and Westpark). They expect to work until no later than around noon, but any amount of time you can help will be appreciated. For more information, please contact Council Member Pennington's office at districtg@cityofhouston.net or 832.393.3007.

Also on the 13th, and again on Sunday, March 14th, Neighborhood Centers will be leading groups to drop flyers in the Sharpstown and Gulfton areas. They will meet at 9:00 a.m. each day at the Sharpstown Recreation Center, 6600 Harbortown (just north of Bellaire Blvd.) and expect to work until 2:00 p.m. For information on this activity, contact Christina Rodriguez at crodriguez@neighborhood-centers.org or 713-669-5271.
